International Renowned Designer Steve Leung Proudly Launches His First Handle Co

(Apr 25, 2016, Hong Kong) Steve Leung, the internationally renowned architect, interior and product designer, joins hands with Fusital, the leading Italian manufacturer of design handles, launching a brand-new handle collection inspired by Chinese tradition door lock at Salone del Mobile 2016. Steve also attended the launch event and shared his design concept, unveiling the product sketches and end product.

Bringing  the  latest  innovations  in  Italian  design,  and  pioneers  of  unequalled  techniques, Valli&Valli’s Fusital range have been collaborating on design with some of the world’s most renowned designers, such as Frank Gehry, Foster and Partners, Zaha Hadid etc.

The new collection is named “H377 Serie SL Duemilasedici”. Inspired by the bold geometry of traditional Chinese brass hardware and antique door lockset, designer has reinterpreted these fundamental elements into a contemporary modern design aesthetics. The standard brass finishes  provide  various  material  options  such  as  dark  bronze,  titanium  and  black  matt, representing the traditional, industrial and contemporary style respectively  to match with different interior design.

"The door handle is one of the most important, but often the most overlooked elements of interior design. It determines a person's initial approach to space, offering a visual and tactile experience that creates the first impression of an interior." Steve Leung said, "The collection presents a contemporary minimal design with the optimal balance of aesthetics and functionality, exploring the deep origins and aesthetics of traditional Chinese culture."

Using traditional hand sketching, paired with modern 3D printing technology and the refined craftsmanship  of  Valli&Valli,  Steve  Leung  explored  his  designs  both  visually,  and  through experiencing the feel of the products during the development of this collection.

Steve Leung has branched out into furniture and product design since 2001. His furniture series include “i-chi”, “Cube”, “Ling Long”, “Tenchi”, “KAI”, “i-chi II” and “Luxe”. In 2015, Steve joined hand with Visionnaire, the leading Italian brand of luxury home furniture, to launch a new furniture collection “Nature’s Jewel Box”. The furniture series named “PIANPIAN” for HC28 was also launched in 2015. In addition to furniture design, Steve has been invited by international brand names to design other products, such as textiles, home accessories, bathroom vanity and wallpaper collection. Collaborating brand names include Former, Hunter Douglas Hospitality, Saga Furs, NEUTRA, Graham & Brown and Villeroy & Boch.

About Steve Leung

Recognized internationally, Steve Leung is a leading architect, interior and product designer born in Hong Kong in 1957. As a dedicated contemporary-style advocate, Steve's works reflect a sophisticated and unique character of minimalism, with skillful adoption of Asian culture and arts.

 

Over the past  18 years, Steve has led extensive famed projects in China and overseas and received high acclaim worldwide.
